Oregon Meadowfoam Blossom
Meadowfoam (Limnanthes alba) is a plant native to the Willamette Valley of northwestern Oregon. As its name suggests, it is a meadow wildflower with a white, billowy blossom. Only in the last few decades have farmers begun to cultivate the plant commercially on a small scale -- the oil from the meadowfoam seed is used as an ingredient in cosmetics.
This newest release is a delight to return from the sweet version of Oregon Meadowfoam Blossom that we produced last year to this elegant, brut-dry, brightly acidic and Champagne-like release. The clove notes we expect from Meadowfoam honey are more subtle on the nose this year, as is the vanilla finish on the palate and there is a suggestion of jasmine.
Perfect for the holidays with Pumpkin and Apple Pie, warm, Spiced-apple Bread Pudding, and Carrot Cake.
